Common cutting methods for putty knives

Common cutting methods for putty knives
Putty knives also require cutting, and there are three commonly used cutting methods for putty knives.
1. Surface grinding method. A grinding method that balances sharpness and robustness. Starting from the back of the knife, it is ground flat to the blade, thus having a fairly sturdy back and spine. This grinding method is more difficult to grind compared to the above two methods, as many steel materials need to be ground off during the grinding process. The blade is very thin and sharp, suitable for various outdoor knives and is an excellent grinding method. It is also known as the V-shaped grinding method because it appears to be V-shaped from the longitudinal section of the knife.
2. Cavalry grinding method. Similar to the flat grinding method, both are designed with no grooves on both sides of the cutting surface. Unlike the flat grinding method where the blade is ground from the back to the blade, the cavalry grinding method starts from half way. It also has excellent cutting and chopping capabilities. The early cavalry knife was this grinding form, hence it is called the cavalry grinding method.
3. Arc grinding method. This grinding method is not like the four grinding methods mentioned above. Other grinding methods all form a slope or groove on both sides of the knife, while the arc grinding method forms a double convex arc above the blade. This grinding method is as sturdy as the flat grinding method, and as sharp as the concave grinding method. A grinding method that is very difficult to manufacture.
